Privacy policy.
Your stories are personal. Here is how we handle the information you share with tiny tabloid.
Effective November 6, 20261. Who we are and what this covers
Tiny Tabloid is a service in development that turns updates from friends and family into a monthly group newspaper. This policy covers this website, communications with us, and the planned SMS/MMS service. Contact Tiny Tabloid at grady@tinytabloid.com.
The public site provides product information and a fictional sample issue. The invite-only pilot also lets organizers create accounts, save group updates and photos, review drafts, and publish private newspaper pages. Text messaging enrollment and delivery are not yet available. Messages entered in the pilot are saved in an inbox and outbox for testing; no service texts are sent.
2. Information we collect
On this website. Our hosting provider may process technical information such as your IP address, browser, request time, and pages requested to deliver and secure the site. If you email us, we receive your email address and the information you include.
In the invited pilot. We process organizer names, email addresses, password hashes, invitations, sign-in sessions, and security records. We also save group names, member names and phone numbers entered by organizers, messaging preferences, consent choices, messages, photos, captions, drafts, published issues, and usage records. The example family contains fictional people and content. The pilot does not collect payment details.
Please share only content you have permission to contribute. Avoid sensitive information, such as financial account numbers, medical records, or identification documents.
3. How we use information
We use information to operate and secure the website, respond to questions, and, when available, manage group participation, send requested reminders and issue links, prepare the newspaper, and honor messaging and privacy choices. We may also use necessary records to prevent abuse and meet legal obligations.
We do not sell personal information or use the stories you contribute to target advertising.
4. Mobile information and messaging consent
We do not sell, rent, or share mobile numbers, mobile opt-in data, or SMS/MMS consent with third parties or affiliates for their marketing or promotional purposes.
Messaging consent is specific to Tiny Tabloid and is not transferable. We use messaging providers only as needed to deliver and operate the service on our behalf, subject to restrictions on their use of the information. They may process phone numbers, message content, delivery information, and necessary consent or suppression records for that purpose, not for their own marketing.
Joining a group or receiving an invitation does not by itself enroll you in messages. We will obtain your explicit consent before sending service texts. Consent to receive texts is not a condition of purchase.
5. Group stories and AI editing
Railway hosts the application, Postgres database, and private photo storage. When live AI editing is enabled, OpenAI processes submitted text and photo captions to help collect updates, prepare drafts, apply revisions, and review issue readiness. Without a configured AI key, the pilot uses scripted editing. The organizer reviews the issue and explicitly publishes it. AI can make mistakes, so organizers should check the wording and facts before publishing.
Your contributions are intended for the members of your group. Other members can read, copy, or share material they can access, so please consider what you send. We do not publish group stories to a public feed. Personal reading links grant access to anyone holding the link until it expires or is revoked, so share them carefully. The sample issue on this website is fictional.
6. Other disclosures
We may disclose information to service providers that help us host and secure the site, deliver messages, store content, or provide support. We limit disclosure to the work they perform for us. We may also disclose information when required by law or when necessary to protect rights, safety, or the service.
The restriction on sharing mobile information and messaging consent for marketing or promotional purposes applies to all sharing described in this policy.
7. Cookies and analytics
The site does not use advertising pixels or analytics scripts. The organizer app uses an essential, HTTP-only cookie to maintain your sign-in session. Passwords and API keys are not stored in browser storage. Our hosting provider may retain technical logs needed for delivery, reliability, and security.
8. Retention and security
Group messages, photos, drafts, and published issues remain until explicit removal or group deletion. Minimal AI spending records with hashed internal identifiers remain separately to enforce spending limits after deletion. Account and security records remain as needed to provide access, prevent abuse, and resolve support requests. Once messaging is available, necessary consent and opt-out records may remain so we can respect your preferences.
We use reasonable technical and organizational safeguards. No system or method of transmission is completely secure. Service providers may process information in the United States or other countries where they operate.
9. Your choices and requests
Once messaging is available, reply STOP to unsubscribe or HELP for assistance. Message frequency varies with reminders, replies, and issue delivery. Message and data rates may apply. Opting out stops messages but does not automatically remove contributions already included in a group issue.
You can ask to access, correct, or delete your information by emailing grady@tinytabloid.com. Depending on where you live, you may have additional privacy rights. We will respond as required by applicable law and may need to verify your request. We will explain any legal reason that prevents us from fulfilling it. Do not send sensitive identity documents unless we specifically request a secure verification method.
10. Children
Tiny Tabloid is intended for adult participants and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information directly from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided information, contact us so we can investigate and remove it as appropriate. Adults should have permission before submitting photos or stories about children.
11. Updates and contact
We will post changes here and update the effective date. If a change materially affects participants, we will provide appropriate notice before it takes effect. For privacy questions or requests, email grady@tinytabloid.com.
